Meet Emma & Chloe from Atlys Creative - your next blog/vlog obsession!
Many of us get to experience travel with our friends at least once, it usually starts with schoolies, maybe then on to a trip for a gap year with our friends or a few vacations in our 20’s. But how many of us get to actually travel with our besties as a way of life?
Well meet the duo of the Atlys Creative - Emma and Chloe. Not only have they managed to combine their love of travel with their other passions, but these two have made a way to travel with your bestie into a career. Honestly they are out living the dream and you are going to be just as obsessed following them as I am.
I got the chance to chat with the duo Emma and Chloe about how they combined their love of travel into a way of life and what their new business the Atlys Creative is all about.
Q1. You both are best friends, how did you meet and how long have you known each other?
We met each other way back in primary school alongside our other bestie, and had the pleasure of also going to the same high school.
We remained friends all throughout our schooling years and had a lot of the same classes as our interests aligned almost perfectly.
The year after graduating was when we embarked on an amazing road trip which sparked the entirety of our love for travel! So all in all, we’ve been besties for about 12 years!
Q2. What was the first place you travelled to together and what activities did you get up to?
We briefly mentioned before, but we did an amazing road trip the year after graduating.
We decided to start here at our home in Brisbane and drive up the Queensland coastline.
We stopped at SO many beautiful destinations – Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg, Yeppoon, Townsville, Cairns, Port Douglas etc. BUT our first official overseas trip was only a few years back with our first stop being New York City.
Not to be basic, but we have been SO in love with The Big Apple ever since then.
We’ve returned one other time last year during December (amazing Christmas vibes!), and already have plans to go back next year.
There is something about the energy there and feeling like anything is possible. You’re constantly surrounded by so many people doing so many different things, and it really encapsulates a judgement free city.
That same trip, we also headed to Europe and did some countries there – the UK, France, Monaco, The Netherlands, and Switzerland. Again, we were obsessed with all of these places!! 100% would like to go back everywhere, and I’m sure our bank accounts are dreading that day.
Q3. What made you decide to start travelling together and pursue it as a career, what motivated the vision of starting a brand around two best friends
travelling and vlogging it?
If you didn’t know, last July of 2024 we embarked on a yearlong journey of travel. We lived throughout Canada for 6 months, then did another few months over in several European countries again. Chloe has a background as a photographer, and we both love the world of business. With those skills combined, it was literally just a matter of overwhelming thoughts – why haven’t we been sharing our travels more?
How can we cater to those in the travel world? Where can we see a gap in the market?
That’s when we came up with the idea to not only share our travels but cater to photographing Airbnb’s and hotels.
Back on our initial road trip, we had the pleasure of working with the Shangri-La in Cairns. We photographed their hotel, and that same energy is what we wanted to bring to Atlys – share our travels, photograph for Airbnb’s and hotels, and eventually we will be sharing a lot on our blog with guides, info points and as much guidance and assistance as we can.
Navigating the world of travel can be overwhelming, especially as young females. We want to have a space for those not only wanting to be inspired, but also comforted and guided.
Q4. What would your dream place be to visit and vlog?
The world of vlogging is still quite new to us, but we love it! Next on our list that we haven’t yet been would be Finland or Lapland. We had a snowy adventure back in Iceland earlier this year but would loveee to see more snow, gorgeous sights, Northern Lights, and share it!
Q5. Do you both do this full time or do you also work in between trips, if so how do you balance working and having a side hustle – do you see the
Atlys creative taking you into the direction of being digital nomads?
We actually both work remotely which puts us in a VERY fortunate situation. It means we are able to travel at the same time – essentially wherever we have Wi-Fi, we can work! One of the biggest challenges being overseas this year was matching the time zone back to here in Aus. It oftentimes meant working from 11pm and throughout the night, but we wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Q6. What are your top travel hacks, tips or ‘go to’s that you have learned so far?
A couple of things we have learnt:
Home cooking – it seems quite straightforward but when you’re overseas, the conversion rate from AUD to Pounds and Euros was terrible. If we had a place with a kitchen we did our best to cook where we could. If we were in a hotel, it did sometimes mean eating sandwiches or noodles (not always the most appetising), but definitely saved us money. The cutlery set from The Travel Obsessive is absolutely perfect for this as well!
Utilise booking in advance and reserving – Booking.com was our fav for this. A lot of properties allow you to book with free cancellation and no pre-payment. This meant when we were planning for longer-term travel, we could reserve places without having to fork out a lot of money. Long-term Airbnb rentals also usually have the option to pay 50% now and then 50% at a later date. This was great to reserve places but not always spend hundreds or thousands all at once.
Carry a luggage scale with you! This was the best hack as we were often scared of having overweight suitcases. Made it super easy to at least get a rough idea of what we were looking at.
e-SIM’s – Airalo was our fav! We literally used it for the entire time we were gone. It meant we could purchase them before our next destination and install them on our phone, meaning when we landed we could simply switch it on and have internet access immediately. This was great for booking ubers/transport and not having to spend a ton of time at the airport organising SIM cards!
You can use our code ‘ATLYS15’ at checkout for 15% off any e-SIM’s as well!
Q7. What is the long-term vision for the Atlys creative – do you have a specific goal in mind or is it more of an evolving brand?
We’d love to have this as our full-time gig.
Photographing beautiful stays, vlogging our travels, creating guides for those wanting to travel where we have.
We love the world of exploring new places and doing that full-time is our ultimate long-term goal.
Q8. What are your plans for 2026 and what can we expect for some of your adventures planned?
AHH we are SO excited for what 2026 has to offer.
Some of the trips currently in the works: Fiji, potentially New Zealand’s South Island, moving to Canada, exploring the Rockies properly, another trip to NYC of course, and also likely some European travel (we haven’t determined where yet).
Another place on our list is also South Africa! We are currently in the works of planning it all so aren’t fully sure, but either way we are very, very excited.
